Steve Hanley is pictured above during his solitary
England appearance- a 32-31 defeat
against Wales which cost England the Grand
Slam in the 1999 Five Nations Championship.
It was a happier occasion on a personal note
for Hanley - who was just 19 at the time -
as
he managed to mark his debut with a try. Alas he also broke his arm during the game.
He played for Sale from 1998 to 2008 when a serious back injury forced him to retire.
He made 191 appearances for the Manchester Club scoring 520 points.
