Gus Aherne was educated at CBC, Cork and UCC where he led the

Leeside students to a Munster Senior League success in 1985 as

well as representing the Irish Universities. He also played for Dolphin

but, after graduating as a Civil Engineer, he joined Lansdowne.

He remained in Dublin after his rugby career.
