He made his full international debut the following year

Ireland in Cardiff and marked the day with his
first and only
try in Test match rugby to help Wales to
a comfortable 25-9 victory.

Robert Clive Burgess joined Ebbw Vale from Croesyceiliog RFC
and was a superb servant to the Eugene Cross Park club, for
whom he made more than 200 appearances, before finishing
his career in Italy with Brescia. He died suddenly at home on
2nd May 2006 in Ebbw Vale, Gwent aged 55. He was survived
by his wife Susan and their two daughters Carlie and Ceri.
