as he crosses the line in the silver medal position in the mens 50km
Walk at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. It completed an excellent few
days for the young Australian, who had earlier won the bronze medal in
the 20km Walk. Tallent's time of 3.39.27 was a new PB but was not quite
enough to hold off the challenge of Italy's Alex Schwazer (2102 in the
inset photo), who won the gold in a new Olympic record time of 3.37.09.
Denis Nizhegorodov (2777) and Jesus Angel Garcia, who finished third and
fourth respectively, are the other athletes in the inset picture.
