The far right photo above shows an ecstatic Steve Hooker
celebrating after he had cleared a new Olympic record height of 5.96m
during the final of the mens Pole Vault at the 2008 Olympic Games in
Beijing. The top middle inset picture shows Hooker, arms aloft in
celebration, shortly after his 5.96m clearance whilst the pictures to
the left are of the vault itself.
The far left image shows Steve during
an earlier vault in the final. Hooker had cliched the gold medal with a
last round clearance of 5.90m, with Russia's Evgency Lukyanenko failing
with all three attempts at that height.
The bar was then raised 6cm to
give Steve the chance to break Tim Mack's Olympic record and the
            Australian did not disappoint.
