Chandra is pictured above in full flow during the heats of the women's
100m at the 2003 World Championships in Paris. She finished in fourth
place in the final but was later promoted to the bronze medal position
when Kelli White admitted using performance enhancing substances and was
banned for two years in May 2004.
The exact same situation had also
ocurred at the previous World Championships in Edmonton, with Sturrup
being promoted from 4th to 3rd place when Marion Jones was stripped of
her silver medal for drug offences.

Chandra is pictured above during the heats of the women's 100m at the
2000 Sydney Olympics. She finished in sixth place in the final but it
was the 4x100m relay that Sturrup had greatest success, teaming up with
Sevatheda Fynes, Pauline Davis-Thompson and Debbie Ferguson to win gold
for the Bahams.
A year earlier Chandra was part of the very same quartet
who won gold at the World Championships in Seville. At the 1998
Commonwealth Games she won her first individual medal at a major
championship with victory in the 100m.
