Maryam Yusuf JAMAL - Bahrain - 5th in the 1500m at the 2008 Olympics (result)

The photo above shows Maryam Yusuf Jamal leading the field at the bell during the womens 1500m final at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Sadly for Jamal, who won 1500m gold at the previous years World Championships in Osaka, she would slip back to a 5th place finish. The two athletes immediately behind Maryam in the photo above - Kenya's Nancy Jebet Langat (2282) and Ukraine's Iryna Lishchynska (3105) - would take gold and silver respectively.
