Kim GEVAERT - Belgium - 2006 European 100m & 200m champion.

The main photo above shows the athletes in the home straight during the women's 200m final at the 2006 European Championships in Gothenburg. Kim Gevaert (1024) won the gold medal in a time of 22.68, with the Russians Yuliya Gushkina (1594) and Natalya Rusakova (1628) winning silver and bronze respectively. It capped a memorable couple of days for Kim who had won the 100m gold earlier in the championships (see below) and she can be seen celebrating the moment of victory in the smaller inset picture.

The Russians Yekaterina Grigoryeva (lane 1) and Irina Khabarova (lane 5) won the silver and bronze respectively.
