Amel Tuka was the fastest qualifier for the men's 800 metres final in Beijing, winning
his semi final in 1.44.84 and therefore with prospects of finishing at the front
of the final - which he indeed did. 2011 World Champions David Rudisha won with
European Champion Adam Kszczot taking the silver medal and Amel the third medal.
The month before the championships Amel had set a new personal best of 1:42.51,
in Monaco.
