The inset picture above shows a delighted Maurren celebrating after she had won the gold medal in the final of the womens Long Jump at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Maggi's jump of 7.04m came in the very first round and it was not until the 6th and final round that she was really challenged for first place, Russia's Tatyana Lebedeva falling just 1cm short of equalling Maurren's effort! The action photo also shows Maggi during the final. 

 

She became the first Brazilian woman to win an Olympic gold medal in an individual sport
