At the World Championships, Rosângela became the first Brazilian
female sprinter ever to run the 100m in under 11 seconds, clocking
10.91 in the semifinal to set a new national and South America
record at the distance. She is pictured above after that semi-final,
won by Thompson in 10.84.
Rosângela Santos has dual American and Brazilian citizenship.
