Twenty one year old Shawnacy Barber clears the pole vault bar at 5.90 metres and with it wins the
2015 World Championship in Beijing. He had earlier in the season vaulted 5.93m for a National record.
He attempted 6.00 metres in Beijing as did silver medalist Raphael Holzdeppe.
Shawnacy cleared every height at his first attempt except the 6.00m. None of the finalists reached
a season's best height. Shawnacy died on Wednesday 17th Janaury aged just 29, at his home
in Kingswood, Texas from mediacal complications following a period of ill health. At the time of
his death he was the Canadian record holder with 6.00m. (Indoors)
