Changrui Xue missed out on a medal at the Championships but he was
perhaps consoled by his new Chinese National Record of 5.82 metres.
He failed three times at 5.70m when trying to qualify, when ten vaulters
cleared 5.60m (like Changrui) but only four made the final on fewer failures.
Changrui cleared 5.82m at his first attempt (only Kenricks also did that) but
5.89m was too much there after.
2017 World Athletics Championship. London Olympic Stadium,
