2012 Olympic champion Ding Chen at the 2013 World Championships, in Moscow,
during the men's 20k race walk. He finished second. At the London Games he won the
race in 1:18:46 and established a new Olympic record. He was only the second* Chinese
to win an athletics gold medal. He was just nineteen at the time.
(*Liu Xiang won gold in 110 m hurdles at the 2004 Summer Olympics.)
In 2019 he was awarded the gold medal following a drugs ban on Ivanov.
