The race finish pictures above show the closing few metres of the
mens 110m Hurdles final at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka. Xiang (
lane 9 on far left) won the gold medal in a time of 12.95 secs, with
the American pair Terrence Trammell (lane 5) and David Payne (lane 7)
winning silver and bronze respectively.
Liu's victory meant he completed
the 'full set' of medals at the World Championships, having won bronze
in 2003 and silver in 2005. In between times the Chinese youngster
struck gold at the 2004 Olympics in Athens. Xiang later commented: "I
had to win the gold. Now I will have even more pressure than before. But
this is something I will need to get over to keep going." The right
hand photo above shows Liu celebrating shortly after the race finish.
