Sara Kolak's summer looked like it's highlight might have been her bronze medal at
the European Championships in Amsterdam, where she threw a Croatian national record of
63.50 metres. Then she travelled to Brazil for the Olympic Games.

Sara Kolak was placed 5th in the women's javelin final in Rio when she took her fourth throw.
It sailed over 66 metres and she had won the gold medal ! In fact during the qualifying she
had also set another national record (64:30 metres) and it was therefore not a shock that a
victory could come her way. World record holder Barbora Špotáková 'only' had a season
best of 66.87 going into the competition (her WR was 72:28m - set way back in 2008) and Sara
was in fine form.
