The main photo above shows Osleidys celebrating after she had won gold with a new
World Record throw in the womens Javelin at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki.
Menendez's effort of 71.70m eclipsed her previous World Record mark of 71.54m,
which she achieved in Crete in July 2001. It was the second time that Osleidys,
the 2004 Olympic champion, had struck gold at the World Championships with her
other success coming at the 2001 event in Edmonton.

Osleidys is pictured above during the Javelin final at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, where she took the Gold with an Olympic
record throw of 71.53m. It was her first throw of the final and shattered the previous Olympic best of 68.91, set in 2000
by Trine Hattestad's, by fully 2.12m. The inset picture shows the happy Cuban celebarting her fine victory.
