Kyriakos is pictured above during the final of the mens High Jump at the 2007 World
Championships in Osaka. Ioannou cleared the same height of 2.35m as Donald Thomas
and Yaroslav Rybakov but the Cypriot athlete was forced to settle for the bronze medal
on the countack rule. Thomas took the gold and Rybakov the silver. It was the second bronze
medal that Kyriakos had won at a major champoionship, having also won bronze at the 2006
Commonwealth Games in Brisbane.
