Jefferson is pictured above about to cross the line to win gold in the 20km Walk at the 2005
World Championships in Helsinki. His time of 1: 18.35 was a seasons best and comfortably
won him the gold ahead of Spain's Francisco Fernandez. Indeed, the difference of 1min 1sec
was the biggest winning margin since the 20km Walk was introduced to the
World Championships in 1987.
