Berhane is pictured above (200) crossing the line to win the silver
medal in the women's 10000m at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki.
The Dibaba sisters, Tirunesh and Ejagayehu, won the gold and bronze
respectively, meaning that Ethiopia completed a clean sweep of the
medals. The inset photo shows the three Ethiopian runners bunched
together at the bell. Adere's time of 30: 25.41 was a seasons best but
not enough to retain the title she had won two years previously in
Paris. |

Championships in Edmonton. A third Ethiopian, Gete Wami (no 241), took
the bronze with Britain's Paula Radcliffe (311) in fourth place. The two
other athletes in the picture were being lapped.
