Ejegayehu DIBABA - Ethiopia - 2004 Olympic Games 10,000m silver medal.

The photo above shows Ejegayehu Dibaba about to cross the line in second place behind Huina Xing in the 10000m at the 2004 Olympics in Athens. It was a fine performance by Ejegayehu who beat the defending champion and Olympic record holder, Derartu Tulu, into third place. Dibaba's time of 30: 24.98 was a new PB, as indeed was the winner Xing's 30: 24.36. Ejegayehu's older sister Tirunesh (see elsewhere on this site) won the bronze medal in the 5000m.

Womens 10, 000m. Final.
