The photo above shows Ejegayehu Dibaba about to cross the line in
second place behind Huina Xing in the 10000m at the 2004 Olympics in
Athens. It was a fine performance by Ejegayehu who beat the defending
champion and Olympic record holder, Derartu Tulu, into third place.
Dibaba's time of 30: 24.98 was a new PB, as indeed was the winner Xing's
30: 24.36. Ejegayehu's older sister Tirunesh (see elsewhere on this
site) won the bronze medal in the 5000m. |
