The main photo above shows Tirunesh Dibaba leading her compatriot
Meseret Defar down the home straight in the womens 5,000m final at the
2005 World Championships in Helsinki. Ejegayehu, the younger sister of
Tirunesh, is the third athlete in view and the medals were won as the
above picture depicts. Meselech Melkamu finished in fourth place to
complete an Ethiopian 1-2-3-4. The inset photo shows the four Ethiopians
bunched together at the bell, with Ejegayehu tucked in behind sister
Tirunesh (204). It was the second bronze that Ejegayehu won at the
Championships, having won the 10000m bronze a week earlier. See below.

Ejegayehu Dibaba is pictured above just behind fellow Ethiopian Berhane
Adere (200) and her older sister Tirunesh (204) in the final of the
womens 10,000m at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki. The younger
Dibaba won the bronze medal with Tirunesh winning gold and Adere silver,
meaning that Ethiopia completed a clean sweep of the medals. Ejegayehu
also won a bronze medal in the 5,000m (see next page) to complete a fine
championships. |
