Kenenisa BEKELE - Ethiopia - 2004 Olympics Games 10,000 metres Champion.

The main photo above shows Kenenisa Bekele during the 5000m heats at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.

The inset picture shows Bekele side by side with the great Moroccan Hicham El Guerrouj who just pipped

Kenenisa for the Gold. Bekele had, of course, already won the 10000 Gold a few days earlier so had

enjoyed a memorable first Olympic Games.    Eight days earlier he won the Gold Medal in the 10,000m.

Kenenisa Bekele is pictured above crossing the line to take the 10000m Gold medal at the 2004

Olympic Games in Athens. His time of 27: 05.10 was a new Olympic record, eclipsing the

previous best of 27: 07.34 set by fellow Ethiopian Haile Gebrselassie in 1996.
