steeplechase (8:16.64). As the result below indicated the final
had a dramatic end with Kipruto taking the gold by .01 of a second.
Girma got the consolation prize of the Ethiopian national record that
19 year old Wale had improved twice already in 2019 !

On 9th June 2023 running in the Diamond League meeting in Paris, Lamecha Girma
broke the world record for the men's 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 7:52.11 seconds.
He broke the record previously held by Qatari Saif Saaeed Shaheen.
