Meselech is pictured above in full flow during the heats of the
women's 5,000m at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki. She went on to
finish in a highly creditable fourth place in the final, in what was
her first final at a major championship. Melkamu, whose surname means
'goodness' in Amharic, finished behind her compatriots Tirunesh Dibaba,
Meseret Defar and Ejegayehu Dibaba in an Ethiopian 1-2-3-4.
