Mahledine crosses the finish line in the men's 1500m at the 2014 European Championship in
Zurich to take the title. The European 3,000m steeplechase record holder won a slow race that featured
three runners falling. His victory made up for the fact he "won" the steeplechase a few days earlier at the
Championship, only to be disqualified for removing his vest and putting it in his mouth as he approached the finish line.
Never far from controversy he has in the past been banned for pushing official mascots to the ground
"in celebration" and had fights with his fellow competitors on the track. Some of the crowd booed his victory
in Zurich. He won the European steeplechase title in 2012 (Helsinki). However, he looks happy enough below.
