Cameron SHARP - Great Britain & N.I. - Championship Record 1982 (100m/200m)

Cameron Sharpe is pictured above at the 1982 European Championships

in Athens. He won the 200m silver medal in a time of 20.47 secs, just one

hundredth of a second behind the Gold medal winner Olaf Prentzler.

In 1991 he was involved in a serious car accident which left him physically and mentally disabled.

Married to Carol Lightfoot, former Scottish 800 metre runner he had two daughters,

one of whom, Lynsey, competed as an 800 metres runner.  She won the 2012 European 800 metres

Championship in Helsinki and the silver medal four years later.

Both daughters won national athletics champions.
