The pictures above show Greg Rutherford during qualifying for the Long jump final at the 2006
European Championships in Gothenburg. He produced a fine leap of 8.13m in the final
itself to win the silver medal behind Italy's Andrew Howe. Ukraine's Oleksiy Lukashevych,
the defending champion, finished in the bronze medal position, just 1cm behind Rutherford.
