Great Britain's Olympic, European and Commonwealth men's long jump champion Greg Rutherford
flies through the air in Beijing at the 2015 World Championships to strike gold. Leading almost throughout
the final, Greg became one of the very few athletes to hold all four titles at the same time. He started with a no jump
but thereafter it looked plain sailing. His 2nd attempt took the lead (8.29) and in fact would have won
him the competition. However his 4th leap of 8.41, pictured above, was beyond the other finalists. Jeff Henderson who
jumped 8.36 in qualifying, was perhaps his only threat - but then could not reach 8 metres in the final.
Like a true champion it was Greg's best leap of the season (SB). All photograhps George Herringshaw ©
On the 4th. February 2016 Greg broke the
British Indoor long jump record in in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with
a leap of 8.26m. The record was held by Chris Tomlinson (8.18m) set in February 2008 in Stuttgart.
