The main pictures above show Kelly competing in the High Jump
discipline of the Heptathlon at the 2004 Olympics in Athens. She
produced a superb clearance of 1.85m, a new PB, to record 1041pts. The
right hand photo shows Sotherton during the Javelin which proved to be
her most disappointing event, her 613pts meaning that she slipped from
second to third in the overall table. The left hand picture shows a
tearful Kelly watching the scoreboard to see if her 800m victory had
gained the sufficient points to overhaul Austra Skujyte and grab the
silver medal. Sadly she fell 11pts short but it had still been a fine
performance by the Briton, whose overall total of 6424pts was a new PB. |
