One month after this picture was taken (and at the same venue) Mike set his
personal best in the pole vault of 5.25 metres.
Upon retirement from professional athletics, Mike Bull O.B.E. lectured on sports studies and
provided sports commentary for UTV (Ulster Television). He opened his own gym
in Dufferin Avenue, Bangor, County Down Mike Bull's Health Gym and was a
fitness adviser for the Irish Rugby Football Union.
In 1986 he co-founded the sports charity Sparks Northern Ireland and raised money
for children suffering from crippling illnesses.
