Sophie Hitchon is pictured above at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing where she
finished fourth in the hammer final. She set a new U.K. record of 73.86m there which a year
later, in Rio, she improved it to 74.54m. She nearly had a shock at the 2016 Olympic Games
where she was the 11th of 12 qualifiers, with her last throw of 70.37m. It was indeed her
last throw in the final in Rio that brought her the 74.54 UK record and Olympic medal medal.
