Anyika Onuora safely receives the relay baton from Ashley Nelson, in the semi final of the women's
4 x 100m relay at the 2014 European Championships in Zurich. The British women won the final with
a new United Kingdom record of 42.24 seconds - but without Anyika. In the final she was replaced by
the individual 200m champions Jodie Williiams.
However, as a member of the winning team(s) she received her Gold medal.
Consolation of a kind came just two weeks later, at the same venue - the Letzigrund Stadium during
the famous annual Weltklasse - when the British women improved their record with a time of 42.21,
only on that occasion Anyika ran instead of Jodie. They beat Jamaica 42.33 and the U.S.A 42.48.
