Christine OHURUOGU - Great Britain & N.I. - 2008 Olympic Games 400m Champion.

The top left and middle inset pictures shows Christine Ohuruogu (lane 4) crossing the line to win gold in the final of the womens 400m at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Ohuruogu looked to be out of the reckoning coming into the final straight but a fantastic finish from the powerful Londoner saw her overhaul the pre race favourite Sanya Richards, thus adding Olympic gold to the gold medal she had memorably won at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka. The bottom inset photo shows Christine just prior to the start of the final, whilst the right hand image shows her during the heats.

In 2016 after two teams were disqualified for drugs (Russia and Belarus) GB was awarded

the 2008 Olympic Games bronze medal. The GB quartet was Christine Ohuruogu, Kelly Sotherton,

Marilyn Okoro and Nicola Sanders
