The top left photo above shows Jessica looking on intently for the
results of the 200m during the Heptathlon at the 2007 World
Championships in Osaka. The results showed a terrific performance by the
Sheffield girl - a new PB of 23.15 secs and 1064 points to add to her
total. Ennis had suffered a severe setback in the previous event, when
scoring only 656 points in the Shot Put, but her sparkling 200m
performance kept her well in touch with the leaders. The other pictures
above show Jessica during the Long Jump, High Jump and the final
discipline, the 800m. As can be seen in the 800m photo, Ennis finished
just ahead of her compatriot Kelly Sotherton, in a time of 2.11.39, but
it was Sotherton who prevailed overall, edging out Jessica in the race
for the bronze medal by just 41 points. Ennis also posted new PBs in the
100m Hurdles and Javelin, as well as the 200m, in what was a highly
impressive performance in her first global championship at senior level.
