Defending heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis-Hill had to settle for the silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games
losing to Belgium's Nafissatou Thiam by just 35 points. An opening 12.84 hurdles (1149 points) took Jessica into
an early lead on day one, but an outstanding high jump of 1.98 by Nafissatou in the second event (1211 points)
gave an indication that the younger woman was going to be very difficult to beat. Jessica's 200 metres run of 23.49
took her back into the lead but personal bests in the long jump, javelin, 800m by Nafissatou gave her the Gold medal.
