John SHERWOOD - Great Britain & N.I. - Olympic Bronze medalist and Commonwealth Champion.

John Sherwood pictured at The Inter Counties Championship at Leicester.

He won the race representing his native Yorkshire. He married Sheila Parkin,

who as Sheila Sherwood won the long jump silver medal at the 1968 Olympic Games.


Their son, tennis player David Sherwood, was a member of the British Davis Cup team.

His brother goalkeeper Steve Sherwood played for Chelsea and Watford.

John worked as a PE teacher for 40 years, 37 of those at Firth Park Community Arts College,

Sheffield.
