Miltiadis Tentoglou retained his Olympic long jump title in Paris with a
second round jump of 8.48m in the final; having needed only one jump
(8.32m) in qualifying.
In Rome two months earlier he had retained his European title with a championship
record leap of 8.65m (twice !) so he was clearly the man to beat in Paris.
