Defending champion Kirani James ran a season best in the Olympic final but oh boy !
World Champion Wayde van Niekerk running in lane 8 set a new world record and
came so close to the first ever sub 43 second run. Some consolation for Kirani was
the fact he beat LaShawn Merritt.
