Thomas Barr is pictured during his semi final of the 400 metres at the 2014 European
Championships in Zurich (49.30). He was also part of the relay team that set the
Irish national record in the 4 × 400 metres relay in the final, finishing 5th.

Two years later at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games he was setting another record - in his
individual event - the 400m hurdles. Second in his heat at the, he then won
his semi final in 48.39 for an Irish record and then topped that in the final.
He became the first Irish man to break 48 seconds for the event
2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.
