The pictures above show Asafa during the 100m at the Norwich Union
London Grand Prix. Powell won that race in a time of 9.91 seconds, which
was comparatively slow for the Jamaican during 2006! Earlier that year
in England Asafa had equalled the world record with a run of 9.77 at a
meeting in Gateshead, a feat that he would repeat at the Golden League
meeting in Zurich on August 18th. Powell would also taste success in the
Grand Prix final, whilst earlier in the year he had won 100m and 4x100m
golds at the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane. |
