The race action pictures above show the closing few metres of the
women's 400m Hurdles final at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Melanie
(second left) produced a stunning performance to win the gold medal,
with Sheena Tosta (second right) taking silver and Natasha Danvers (far
left) the bronze. The other athlete in shot is Anastasiya Rabchenyuk,
who finished in 4th place.
It was a truly fantastic performance from
Walker - whose time of 52.64 secs was both a new Olympic and National
record - and what better time could there be to produce such a
performance than on the biggest stage of all, the final of the Olympic
Games. The right hand photo shows Melanie in full flow during the heats.
