Novlene WILLIAMS-MILLS - Jamaica - Fifth place at London Games over 400 metres.

Novene Williams-Mills is here pictured during her semi-final.  Her fifth place in the final

was remarkable because at the time she had breast cancer. She was diagnosed with the illness

just weeks before (June 25th. 2012) and three days after the Games surgeons removed a small lump

in her breast. She then had a double mastectomy, a further operation to cut out the remaining

cancerous cells followed by reconstructive surgery.

Her final operation was on January 18th 2013.
