Usain BOLT - Jamaica - Usain Bolt: no more jammin.

One of the great sporting careers of the 21st Century came to a sad end at
the London World Athletics Championships in August 2017 when Jamaica's
sporting hero Usain Bolt suffered severe cramp on the final leg of his last ever
competitive race. Running the fourth leg of the 4x100m relay, Usain felt it seize up
entering the home straight and his team mates, Yohan Blake, Julian Forte and
Omar McLeod could only look on in disbelief as he stopped. Earlier in the day he had run the
heats in warm conditions (main photo above) but the cold London air
at 10.00pm took its toll and so his finale was pure theatre. The inset image
is Usain grimacing in pain, as the other runners race down the track. For the
London crowd the moment was mixed with conflicting emotions because the
Great Britain team won the Gold medal. Only Hollywood would have dared
write the script.

Adding perhaps a moment of irony, when the Jamaican quartet finally made their way
to the finish, the 'villian' of the Championships 100 metres Gold medalist Justin Gatlin
came over to greet his old foe. Gatlin the twice banned sprinter who the London crowd
jeered through out the Championships. (See photo below).

THE MEN'S 100 METRES FINAL EARLIER IN THE WEEK.

Just to add a little mischief: below is a picture (what a picture) of Usain talking
to Justin Gatlin !  Those eyes !  However, it was taken after the 100 metre heats and
both were having a jolly good natter. There are no "daggers" coming from his eyes.

This one sums up the moment better.  They get on together quite well.
