Wayne PINNOCK - Jamaica - Long jump silver medal at World Championships

The day before the long jump final Wayne Pinnock qualified with just

one jump: a life time best ot 8.54 metres.  Could he repeated that feat in the final.


Tentoglou Miltiadis, the Olympic and defending champion, opened with

8.50m.  Wayne took on the challenge and equaled it with his second jump: 8.50m.


Now for their sixth and last jumps. Wayne lands at 8.38m, but based on 2nd bests

is in the gold medal position.   W.P's 8.40m was better than M.T.'s 8.39m).

Miltiadis takes his last jump and lands at 8.52m.    Ouch !
