the heats of the mens 3000m Steeplechase at the 2007 World Athletics Championships in Osaka.
Kipruto went on to win gold in the final, with Ezekiel Kemboi and Richard Kipkemboi Mateelong
completing a Kenyan clean sweep of the medals. The inset picture shows the trio 'flying the flag'
during a lap of honour shortly after the race; Brimin is centre of the three, with Kemboi left of
photo and Mateelong to the right. It was the first time that Kipruto had struck gold at
a major championship, having won silver at the 2004 Olympics and bronze at the 2005 Worlds.
