David Rudisha successfully defended his Olympic 800 metres title in Rio.
He became only the fourth man in history to defend the title after Douglas Lowe, Mal Whitfield
and Peter Snell - the latter being over fifty years earlier (1960/1964). The runner up was
Taoufik Makhloufi, the 2012 Olympic 1500m champion, who set a new Algerian record
of 1:42.61.
Rudisha ran a season best as did Clayton (PB as well), Bosse, Rotich and Lewandowski.
