at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka. Alongside Mathathi is Ethiopia's Sileshi Sihine,

who won the silver medal, whilst directly behind Sihine is his fellow Ethiopian Kenenisa Bekele,

who won the gold medal for the third successive World Championships.
