Nicholas Bett is pictured above winning his heat on the opening
day of the 2015 World Championship in Beijing. His time of 48.37
was the fastest of the day but in his semi final (3rd in 48.54) he
'only' qualified as the fastest loser for the final !
A day later he was the World Champion winning with a time of 47.79,
the fastest in the world, a personal best and all running from the outside lane.
His previous best at a major championship was a bronze medal in the
4x400m relay for Kenya, at the African Championships in 2014.
Nicholas died on Wednesday 8th. August 2018 aged just 28 after his car
left the road and landed in a ditch, killing him. Earlier that year he had
competed at the Commonwealth Games in Australia (8th. in 400mh in 51.00).
