Nineteen year old Mykolas Alekna competing in Munich where
he won the men's discus, with his fifth throw of 69.78 - just
short of his best ever throw of 69.81. In April 2024 he broke the 38
year world record of Jurgen Schult with a throw of 74.35m.
His father Virgilijus Alekna won the event in 2006, having
already won the Olympics in 2000 and 2004.
